Bobby Eugene Burriss, Sr.

Bobby Eugene Burriss, Sr., 85, husband of JoAnn King Burriss of 622 Blue Ridge Ave., died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Belton, SC, he was the son of the late Ernest Allen and Julia Mae Boggs Burriss. He served in the US Army in the Korean War. He also served as Director of Public Utilities in Belton, a member of the Belton Cemetery Board and various other senior organizations throughout Anderson County. He pastored at many churches in his lifetime with the most recent being River Street Baptist in Anderson. He was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: son, Bobby Eugene “Gene” Burriss, Jr. (BobbiJean) of Anderson; brothers, James and Allen Burriss both of Anderson; sisters, Cathy Witcher, Joyce Parnell and Doris Ann Harnesberger; grandson, Michael Burriss (Kaitlyn) of Chapin.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Boyce and Billy Burriss and sister, Shelby Jean Burriss.

Service will be held 3pm Thursday at Blue Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Busha and Rev. Chad Marett officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45pm until 2:45pm at the church.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Baptist Church, 1340 Blue Ridge Ave., Belton, SC 29627or River Street Baptist Church, Anderson, SC.

Following the service, the family will be at the residence of the son, Gene at 105 Paddock Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
