Maurice Lanier Locke
Maurice Lanier Locke, 72, husband of Annie McAlister Locke of Belton, died Monday, April 9, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of Evelyn Burton Locke of Belton and the late Sidney Lanier Locke. He attended Forest Business College and was a member of Gideons International where he was a former state chaplin and Barkers Creek Baptist Church where he served a number of years as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday school teacher and a former active deacon.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 16 years of the home are: son, Michael Locke (Lori) of Iva; daughter, Amy Locke of Anderson; stepson, Kenneth Brooks of the home; stepdaughter, Sandra Smith (Rob) of Mt. Rest, SC; sister, Cheryl Hughes (Barry); grandsons, Sidney Locke, Brooks and Drake Smith, Maxwell Locke; granddaughters, Lauren Smith and Lillie Locke; niece, Kandice Hughes.
Service will be held 2pm Friday at Barkers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Taylor and Rev. Carroll Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5pm until 8pm at Cox Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, Belton Camp, P.O. Box 733, Belton, SC 29627.
The family will be at the residence.
