Bobby Bannister Obituary

Bobby Lamar Bannister, 90, widower of the late Betty Lorene Driver Bannister died Friday September 4, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in Anderson.

Born July 6, 1930 in Belton to the late Lon L. and Florence King Bannister, he was a salesman for 40 years having worked for W.G. Poore Wholesale, Bannister’s Wholesale, and Piedmont Candy and Cigar Company.

Lamar was a lifelong member of Bethany Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon. His Masonic journey started by receiving his Master Mason degree at Centre Lodge #37 in Honea Path in 1955. He was a Past Master of Hoyt Lodge #322 in Cheddar where he also served as Chaplin from 1967 to 2001. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 14th District from 1979 till 1981. He was a member of York Rite Bodies and Hejaz Shrine Temple, and Past Worthy Patron of the Belton Chapter #105 Easter Star. Lamar was Honorary Member of Barrett Lodge #106, Belton Lodge #403, Centre Lodge #37, Divver Lodge #349, Hamilton Lodge #403, Hermon Lodge #116, Hiram Lodge #68, Hoyt Lodge #322, Iva Lodge #238, and Ruff Lodge #240.

Surviving are his children, Vickie Bannister Stone of Anderson, and Randy Bannister and wife Caroline of Taylors; his grandchildren, Hannah Bannister, Jeremy Stone and wife Elizabeth, and Brandon Stone and wife Ashby; his great grandchildren, Patrick Stone, Edie Kate Stone, and Cailyn Stone; his sisters, Hazel Gilliam, Hilda Driver, and Sybil Bratcher. He was predeceased by his sisters, Seretha Gilliam, and Margaret Ashley, his oldest brother Leon Bannister and his twin brother, Louie Bannister.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 PM from Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Edmonds, Rev. Carroll Plemmons, and Rev. DeWayne Evans officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at the Garden of Memories. Due to COVID 19, masks are required.

The family is at the home of Vickie Stone and will receive friends Wednesday from 1:45 until 2:45 at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund, 1632 Bethany Church Rd. Belton, SC 29627.

Pallbearers will be members of Hamilton Lodge #403. Honorary pallbearers will be Masons of all Lodges he was involved in.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to those who helped to take care of our daddy at the Maples and at NHC Anderson. He loved you all.
