CSM (Ret) Robert “Bob” Hume Little, Sr.

It is with great sadness that the family of CSM (Ret) Robert Hume Little, Sr announce his passing at the age of 91 years on July 2, 2020.    Born August 25, 1928 in Carnesville, Georgia to the late Robert Lee and Margaret Hume Little. 

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by: his wife of 26 years, Elizabeth “Libby” Little; his brother, Shannon Little (Kaye); his children, Susan Monk (Phillip), Robert “Bobby” Little, Jr., Michael “Mike” Little, Sharon Bleiler (Larry), Angela “Angie” Sibley, Joel Robertson II (Melissa) and Michael “Mike” Robertson (Regina).  Grandchildren; Kelly, Andrew, Chris, Josh, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Jamie, Whitney, Emily, Lila, Audrey, Luke, Sgt. Richard “Kaleb” Robertson, Keli and 13 great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Harris.

Robert proudly served his country for over 37 years retiring in 1988 as Command Sargent Major over Troop Command in Georgia National Guard.  As Past President of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Georgia Robert was still participating in the annual activities.  Robert was a member of the Masonic Lodge and an active Boy Scout Leader when his sons were young.

 After 42 years Robert retired from BellSouth Telecommunications as a Manager.  One of his greatest accomplishment was the implementation of the 911 emergency management system.  After retirement Robert worked with the Bellsouth Pioneer Volunteers and continued with 911 by taking the “911, How It’s Done” program to the elementary schools for children training.  This project and many others resulted in Robert being honored with the South Carolina BellSouth Pioneer Life Member of the Year honor.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, July 6th, at 3:00 pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens on Highway 25 in Piedmont officiated by Rev. Billy Slatten. 

The family is at their respective homes and will greet friends immediately following the service.
