Clayton Burnice McGill, 97, widower of Mary Mitchell McGill, his wife of 71 years, of Belton died Tuesday August 25, 2020 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Ambus P. and Matilda Crawford McGill. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Surviving are: daughter, Betsy Gregory (Mike) of Belton; grandchildren, Brian Gregory, Misty Coker (Danny Jr.), Susie Shirley (Stan) and Angie Shirley; great grandchildren, Clay Shirley (Brittany), Brittany Wright (Josh), Nathan and Baylee Coker; great great grandchildren, Lucy and Charlotte Shirley, Axl and Easton Wright; son-in-law, “Bud” Shirley; granddaughter-in-law, Shirley Shirley.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bernice Shirley; brothers, “Doc” McGill, Robert McGill and two infant brothers; sister, Mary Jane Sullivan and grandson, “Stu” Shirley.
Due to inclement weather the service will be held 11am Saturday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Moody officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
Due to the Corona Virus and maintaining social distancing, the family will be at their respective homes.
