Daniel “Dan” Lee Caldwell, 88, widower of the late Evelyne Chapman Caldwell, died Wednesday November 25, 2020 at Rainey Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 10, 1932 in Anderson County to the late William and Mae Perry Caldwell, he was a graduate of Belton High School. He was retired from Southern Burglar Alarm. Dan was an avid hunter, and loved the outdoors.
He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his faithful companion, Joyce Dean of Belton; his daughter Mitzi Merritt and husband Brian of Powdersville; his grandchildren, Randy Crowe, Asden Kinder and husband David, Chris Merritt and wife Mandy, and Blake Merritt and wife Catherine; 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rene Crowe, a sister, Blanche Motes, and 2 brothers, Edward “Ed” Caldwell and William “Pete” Caldwell.
A private family graveside service will be conducted at a later date. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday from the Blue Jar Barn, 110 Smith Motors Rd., Belton, SC at 2:00 PM. Due to COVID-19, masks are required and social distancing must be maintained.
