Elizabeth Mae Gambrell Strickland, 79, wife of Charles Herman Strickland, resident of River Street, entered into rest Thursday February 9, 2023 at the Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.
Born on July 29, 1943 in Anderson to the late Mack and Eddie Mae Phillips Gambrell, she was twice married, first to the late Daniel Wayne Compton, she was a homemaker and loved doing crafts and needlepoint.
She was a member of Williamston Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving other than her husband of 16 years, of the home, are her children, Chris Compton and wife Dawn of Seneca, and Melissa Hutchinson and husband Floyd of Belton; her sisters, Kathy Hopson and Joyce Gattis: her brothers, Larry Gambrell, Donald Gambrell, and Jimmy Gambrell; her grandchildren, Joshua Sheldon Martin, Andrew Seth Martin, Holly Rebekah Dunn and Michael Hutchinson and wife Audrey; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was predeceased by a brother, Dennis Gambrell.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. from the Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Brian Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
The family is at their respective homes.
