Belton
Franklin Cowan Wright, 94, widower of the late Barbara Major Wright, resident of Bethany Church Road, went home to be with the Lord, Friday December 10, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 11, 1927 in Belton to the late Claude Cowan and Myrtis Ashley Wright, he graduated from Honea Path High School and worked at Regiel Textile for 40 years. He was an accomplished farmer and enjoyed hunting as well as farming.
He was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and was presented with the Lifetime Deacon Award. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA.
Surviving are his children, Steve Major Wright, Franklin Wright, Jr. (Debbie), LaDonna Wright (Michael) all of Belton, and Jackie Wright Scogins (Eddie) of Iva; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Margaret Thomas and Twyla Branyon.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM from Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Edmonds, Rev. Carroll Plemmons, and Rev. DeWayne Evans officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Monday Evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Cox Funeral Home.
