Anderson
James Carl Hamby, 74, widower of the late Janice Marlane Grubb Hamby, resident of Poplar Lane, formerly of Belton, died Sunday November 7, 2021 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born on May 14, 1947 in Manchester County GA, to the late James C. and Jackie Winnie Studdard Hamby, he joined the U.S. Army in 1967. He worked in Cemetery Maintenance for the Garden of Memories for many years.
He was a member of Restoration House Church. The SC Physically Handicapped Anderson/Greenwood Chapter, and Tolly Arts and Crafts.
Surviving are his children, Shannon Hamby (Ray Hall) of Anderson, and Kim Wicker (David); his stepchildren, Matthew Grubb (Melinda) of Belton, Misty Thompson (Andy) of AL, and Nicole Moore (Jon) of Anderson; his sisters, Mary Hamby Gambrell (Bill), and Dianne Hamby both of Anderson; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, David Hamby.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM from the Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Allen and Bishop E. Howard Steen officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Matthew Grubb.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the SC Physically Handicapped Anderson/Greenwood Chapter.
