James Kelly Meeks, Jr. “Jake”, born Nov. 7, 1931, passed away peacefully March 2, 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane Temple Meeks of the home. Children, Debbie M. McAlister (Steve), Jim Meeks (Teresa), Susan M. Holliday (Ken); 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; sister, Irene “Boots” Edney.
Predeceased by parents, James Kelly Meeks, Sr. and Winnie Hawkins Meeks, 3 sisters, and 1 great granddaughter.
He was a member of Belton First Baptist Church and the Marshall Bible Class where he had served as past president of the class. He was an avid Clemson Fan having served as past IPTAY Representative. He was retired owner of Jake’s Restaurant. He was a US Air Force Veteran.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Becky Edwards and Debbie Garren, and Hospice of the Upstate.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, March 11th at 3pm at Belton First Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Lynch and Rev. Jason Dorriety officiating. Any past Jake’s Restaurant employees that wish to serve as honorary escorts, please meet at the front of the church at 2:30pm.
The family will receive friends following the service Sunday in the church Fellowship Hall.

The family will be at the home of daughter, Susan M. Holliday, 305 McDaniel Rd. Belton (Horton Rd. Entrance).
