Larry Dean Whitfield, Sr., 84, widower of the late Dorothy Hopkins Whitfield, resident of River Street, entered into rest Tuesday June 27, 2023 at Lindley Park Rehab and Healthcare Center in Anderson.
Born on April 16, 1939 in Anderson to the late Hansel Kytle and Mary Etta Mize Whitfield, he graduated from Boys High School in Anderson, he was retired from Flowers Bakery and was affectionately known as “the Bread Man” for many years. He loved watching sports especially Clemson Football and he loved his grandchildren dearly.
He was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.
Surviving are his sons, John Gregory Whitfield, Larry David Whitfield and wife Felicia, all of Belton, Larry Dean Whitfield, Jr., and Michael Douglas Whitfield both of Anderson; His brothers, Sammy Wade Whitfield, John Henry Whitfield, and Billy Clyde Whitfield; his sister, Ruby Nell Whitfield Bailey; his grandchildren, Skyler, Gage, Drake, Analeece, Brice, Blayke Whitfield and Emmett Vaughn. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM from the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Sam Hopkins officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Larry Dean Whitfield, Sr. fund in c/o Cox Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236 Belton, SC 29627 to help offset funeral expenses.
