The family of Marie Cox Parker, of Greenville, SC, express with deep sorrow the loss of heir beloved Matriarch. Marie passed peacefully after a brief illness on December 14, 2020. Marie had an abundant faith in the Lord, and she rests joyfully in his loving arms.
Marie was the only daughter of Charles and Vernon Cox of Belton, SC. She was born on May 31, 1928 and had one brother, Charles Cox Jr. who preceded her in death along with his wife Susie Cox, both of Belton, SC. Marie was a graduate of Limestone College in Gaffney, SC majoring in music.
Marie was married o John Newton Parker, formally of Liberty Life Insurance, Co., for sixty-eighty years, who preceded her in death. Marie and John settled in Greenville, SC and had two sons. Marie was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church and was responsible for establishing a charter membership of the Agape Bible School beginning in 1950’s. Marie was the last surviving member of the original Agape class. She was also an officer and Bible Moderator of the Woman’s Church Circle and sang in the choir for over fifty years.
Marie is survived by her two sons Britt Parker of Manning, SC and Charles Parker and wife Debra of Richmond, VA. Also, Surviving are granddaughter Erica Ciucci, husband Jeff and great-grandson, Alex of Charleston, SC and grandson, David Parker of Greenville, SC and a host of nieces, nephews.
