Norma “Jean” Bruce Phillips, 75, wife of Rev. Dale E. Phillips, resident of Gilkeson Road, entered into rest Friday January 20, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 29, 1947 in Anderson County to the late Rumus “Gumlog” and Willie Mae Hanley Bruce, she was a graduate of Belton High School and attended Tabernacle Baptist College. She was a former clerk at Cason’s Grocery for many years.
A founding member of Grace Baptist Church, she was affectionally known as Ms. Jean, she touched many lives through out the Belton and Honea Path Communities, she always enjoyed singing with her daughters, she is a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Surviving other than her loving husband of 57 years, of the home, are her children, Dale E Phillips, Jr. and wife Tracy of Pelzer, Christie Phillips Daniel and husband Jim of Anderson, and Stacey Marie Phillips of Honea Path; her grandchildren, Alyssa Phillips Kazlauskas and husband Todd of Greer, Lauren Elizabeth Phillips, Noah Dale Phillips both of Pelzer, and Benjamin Phillip Gibson of Anderson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Phillips, a sister, Marie Strickland, 3 brothers, Bill Bruce, Joel “Shorty” Bruce, and Tony Bruce.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM from Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Green officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Cox Funeral Home.
