Belton
Roy G McCoy, Jr., 69, husband of Sharon Bannister McCoy, resident of Qualla Road, died Wednesday February 16, 2022 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born on June 19, 1952 in Anderson County to the late Roy G Sr and Mildred Stoner McCoy, he was a 1972 Graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School and received his Associates Degree in Machine Tool and Die from Greenville Technical College. He retired from Timkin after 45 years of service.
Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting. He was active in the Boy Scouts as a Scout Leader in Troop 20, and was an Eagle Scout himself.
A member of Neal’s Creek Baptist Church, he served as Deacon and was Chairman of Ushers.
Surviving other than his loving wife of 47 years, of the home, are his daughter, Meredith McCoy Teske and husband Chad of Walhalla; his son, Christopher Alan McCoy of Belton; his granddaughter, Haley Teske; his brother, Roger McCoy and wife Donna.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 PM from Neal’s Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Dorriety, Rev. James Bannister, and Rev. Wendell Bannister officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Saturday Evening from 6 to 8 PM at Cox Funeral Home.
