Shirley Jean Parker McNeil, 79, wife of Rev. David M. McNeil, resident of Glendale Street, entered into rest Wednesday March 8, 2023 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born on May 27, 1943 in Montgomery County NC to the late James “Jim” and Molly Cagel Parker, she married David at age 18, obtained her GED and attended nursing school. She worked many years as an LPN. She loved animals and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Henderson County NC.

Surviving other than her loving husband of 62 years, of the home, are her children, Karen McNeil Atkinson of Cedar Mountain, NC; Chad McNeil and wife Ronda of Land O Lakes, FL; her sister, Ruth Dennis; her grandchildren, Justin David Bradley, Randall James McNeil and wife Yoko, Sara Elizabeth Bradley, and Ian Mitchell McNeil; 2 great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, David Charles McNeil, 2 sisters, Cora Lee Gibson and Opal Green, and a brother, James Parker.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM from the Town of Biscoe Cemetery in Biscoe NC with Rev. Ralph Smith and Rev. Hubert McCleod officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Anderson County P.A.W.S., 1320 US-29, Anderson, SC 29626.
