Thelma Campbell Obituary

Thelma Ruth Lollis Campbell, 96, formally of Belton, entered into rest early Friday February 9, 2024 at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 2, 1928 in Belton to the late Floyd and Bertha Carroll Lollis, she was a homemaker most of her life, however she worked for a short period of time at the Oxford Shirt Plant.

A member of Second Baptist Church, she attended Judy Bobo’s Sunday School Class. In her younger years she was a member of the VFW where she enjoyed cutting a rug or two. She also enjoyed Clogging. She was an avid Flower and Veggie gardener, canning home grown beans and other vegetables. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles as well as spending precious time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Cathy Portis (Ron) of Anderson, and Janet Lopez (Alfred) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Laurie Todd (Kevin), Brannon Bridges (Stephanie), Alison Peeples (Jamie), and Brad Driver (Blair); her great grandchildren, Morgan Metz (Branson), Hannah Todd (Jacob Joslin), Noah Todd (Haley Smith), Lucas Bridges, John Tyler Peeples, and Carter Peeples; her nephew, David Heller. She was predeceased by a great grandson, Liam Bridges, 2 sisters, Alieen Heller, and Mildred Cummings, her twin brother, Elmer Lollis, and her former husband, Henry Campbell.

Graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 PM from the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dwight Green officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

The family is at the home of Cathy and Ron Portis.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to Second Baptist Church, 5901 Belton Hwy. Belton, SC 29627.
