Thomas “Tommy” Ray Phillips, 76, widower of the late Nancy Duncan Phillips, resident of Broadway School Road, died Friday November 26, 2021 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born on August 4, 1945 in Abbeville County to the late William Alton and Louise Gunnells Phillips, he attended Dixie High School, served in the South Carolina Army National Guard, and was retired from Duke Power.
He was a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and served on the Board of Directors for Broadway Water District. He was most famous for his cake baking skills.
Surviving are his children, Kevin Scott Phillips of Belton, and Leticia “Tisha” Phillips Helton (Michael) of Anderson; his grandchildren, Christopher Scott Phillips (Ashleigh), Jamie Ray Phillips (Ashley), Zachary Tyler Phillips, Cynthia Hope Ryan (Craig), Brady Michael Helton, and Makenzie Brooke Helton; 3 sisters, 2 brothers and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 PM from Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Cox and Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.
