Wilford Leland Poore, 86, husband of Shelby Holliday Poore, resident of Poore Dr., died Sunday December 26, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 13, 1935 to the late Leland Ransom and Helen Bannister Poore, he proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Essex from 1955 to 1959. He retired from Cryovac after 30 years of service.

He loved playing ball in his younger years, was an avid bird hunter, and loved farming and carpenter work.

He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving other than his loving wife of 61 years, of the home, are his daughter, Cheryl Denise Poore Tysl and husband Steve of Honea Path; his grandchildren, Eric Tysl and Courtney Tysl ; his great grandchild, Jada Tysl; his brother, Phillip Poore and his wife Peggy. He was predeceased by a son, Randy Poore, a brother, Mark Poore, and a sister, Joan Phillips.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 PM from Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.
