William Loudermilk Obituary


SFC William Leon Loudermilk US Army (Ret.), 84, widower of the late Annie Golden
Loudermilk, resident of Qualla Rd., entered into rest Monday February 12, 2024 at AnMed
Health Medical Center.

Born on June 25, 1939 in Toccoa, GA to the late Milo K. Loudermilk and Grace Bailey
Loudermilk Scovill, he was a graduate of Pendelton High School. After serving 2 years in the
reserves, he decided to go full time in the U.S. Army, serving 2 tours in Vietnam. He retired from
the Army in 1980, after 25 years of faithful service. He went to work for Michelin and retired
after 20 years of service.

He was a past member of the VFW and enjoyed dirt track racing, building metal model cars,
saltwater fishing, and riding his motorcycle on the Blueridge Parkway on Sunday afternoons.
He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his sons, William Keith Loudermilk, Gregory Leon Loudermilk (Michelle), and
Timothy Alan Loudermilk (Kimberly) all of Belton; his daughter, Joesee Harris Barnes
(Jonathan) of Beaufort; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; his loving dog, Tootsie. He was
predeceased by a brother, Warren Scovill, and his step father, William “Bill” Scovill.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday Feb. 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM from the Cox Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Harvell officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow
at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday Evening from
6 to 8 PM at the funeral Home.
